The nonprofit organization Ronald McDonald House Charities® provides free housing, emotional support and rest to young patients and their families through Ronald McDonald® Houses and Family Rooms as these families struggle with a sick child away from home.
In 2022, the RMHC® celebrated its 25th anniversary in Spain, a unique opportunity to demonstrate the charity’s commitment to families and children and a chance to raise awareness about it. The result was Captain Olson, a story of love, friendship and meteorites.
This short, heartwarming film tells the story of two brothers called Pedro and Nacho, aged 11 and 7, who live in a small town. One day they receive some walkie talkies as a gift. These come to play a central role in their games and strengthen the bond between them even further. However, the story is suddenly cut short when Nacho has to leave his town and his brother to receive medical treatment in the city. The story highlights the importance of family closeness when it comes to treating children. That’s why the theme of the campaign is “Family is the best medicine.”
The campaign raised 16% more than the previous year and a record amount for the charity of €380,054.
